Great results for the SPEEDCAR drivers at the Autocross of Motorland-Aragón, the first round of the Spanish championship that was held on the 7th and 8th of March at the track located in Aragon. In Division III there was a 1-2 for the TTR, with Joan De María winning ahead of Delfín Lahoz while, both in Car Cross and Car Cross Junior, there was a SPEEDCAR driver on the podium, with Juan José Moll finishing second and Ares Lahoz third.
There was total domination by SPEEDCAR in Division III with a 1-2 for Joan Enric De María and Delfín Lahoz. The two SPEEDCAR drivers were the fastest in qualifying, with Delfín setting the best time with a great 55.621, half a second ahead of his teammate.
In the heats, De María won twice taking pole position for the final, where he was first at the chequered flag with his TTR. In second position,, to complete the first 1-2 of the year for SPEEDCAR, was Delfín Lahoz, who had to recover from fifth position on the grid that he had to start from after some problems in the heats.
An additional two TTRs took part in the race, finishing fourth with Juanjo Aranda and fifth with Javier Gómez, their results emphasizing the superiority of the SPEEDCARs in Division III, with four cars in the top five.
Forty two drivers entered the CarCross category that, for yet another season, is the most popular in the national series. Among them there were nine of the always competitive SPEEDCAR Xtrem, as usual the model with the most entrants on the CarCross grid.
After going through the closely fought heats, three SPEEDCAR drivers got to Sunday's final. The best result was scored by Juan José Moll, who was third fastest in qualifying and second in his two heats to be fifth on the starting grid of the final. The Escudería Mollerusa driver was inmediately among the contenders for the win and after an intense race crossed the finiahs line in second position, just half a second behind the winner.
The second Xtrem in the 'final A' of the CarCross was driven by Jordi Puigvert, who finished seventh. His teamate at 'Escudería Lleida', David Casadevall, completed the treble of SPEEDCARs in the final race of the weekend taking 14th.
An amazing debut for the young SPEEDCAR driver Ares Lahoz, who got on the podium at her first running in the new category starting at MotorLand for drivers between 13 and 18 years old.
Ares was immediately among the best in qualifying, setting the second best time, and continued to show her great driving talent in the heats, takng third and fourth for third place on the grid for the final, an excellent position that she kept right to the end, even getting up to second for several laps of the very close fought race that completed the first competitive weekend for the Junior category.
