The Spanish Hillclimb Championship held its fourth round of the 2023 season on 14, 15 and 16 July at the Subida a Chantada. The classic competition in Lugo, which was attended by four-time European Hillclimb Champion Christian Merli, attracted many fans to the always spectacular Ribeira Sacra scenary and produced an excellent result for Speed Car driver Edgar Montellà, who finished second in the Category 3 of the national series.
In what was his second race of the season in the Spanish Championship, Montellà, who had just won the Spanish Cup classification in the Pujada Alp 2500, held the previous weekend, showed once again how well he feels at the very characteristic Chantada course, always being among the best in Category 3, in which the CM-Promotion group cars compete.
The Andorran driver already placed his Speed Car GTR in second position at the end of Saturday's race when he completed the 4.3 kilometres of the climb in 1:58.778, at an average speed of more than 130 kilometres per hour. On Sunday, Edgar improved his previous time with a 1:57.478 in the second run of the race and confirmed his second position in Category 3 with another time of 1:57 on the final climb.
In addition to the Spanish Championship competition, Speed Car also had the presence of other of its models in the trophy convened for participants with Galician regional license. Among them, Juan González Costas came sixth in the 'sportscar' category with his Speed Car GT1000 while Moisés Tumbeiro was fifth in the 'Car Cross' category with his Speed Car Xtrem.
