The sixth round of the Goldspeed 2024 Spanish Autocross Championship was held on 7 and 8 September in Miranda de Ebro. As in the previous round of the championship, held in Arteixo, Speed Car drivers scored a victory and two second places. Pol Durán won in Car Cross with his Wonder, Quim González was second again with another Wonder in Car Cross Series and this time it was Iñaki Alberdi who finished second in Buggy with a TTR.
Iñaki Alberdí made up for the bad luck that had left him out of the competition in Arteixo in Miranda de Ebro. Despite not being able to take part in the timed session, the Basque driver came back in the qualifying heats with a first, second and third place that placed him in the middle of the front row of the starting grid for the final, in which he completed a good race to cross under the chequered flag in second position with his Speed Car TTR.
With thirty-three participants, the Car Cross category was, as usual, the most popular. And, once again, the most represented brand was Speed Car with nine drivers participating on the Burgos track at the wheel of the Wonder and Xtrem models. Four of them also reached the final of the top fifteen in which Pol Durán achieved his fourth victory of the season with the Speed Car Wonder. The Catalan driver had been seventh in the time trial and started the decisive race from third place after a first and two seconds in his three qualifying heats. In the final, after the race had to be interrupted with a red flag at the start due to a crash, Pol took the lead in the first metres of the second start and stayed in the lead until the finish line, obtaining a victory that keeps him with mathematical options to fight for the title in Mollerusa, which will host the last race of the season.
The other three Speed Car drivers in the final were Jordi Pujol, who proved the validity of the most veteran Xtrem by finishing seventh after being second in the B Final, Marco Matador, who stood out in the qualifying rounds with two victories at the wheel of his Wonder but was less fortunate in the last race of the weekend, finishing eleventh, and Josep Aranda, who was forced to retire on the first lap and was classified thirteenth.
Quim González took the overall lead in the Car Cross Series category after finishing second in Miranda de Ebro. The Speed Car Wonder driver was again in the fight for the top positions throughout the weekend, being second in the time trial and crossing the finish line in first position in two of the three qualifying rounds, although in one of them he was relegated to fourth place due to a false start penalty. In the final, Quim started from second place and held it until the end of the eight laps to score some very important points that will allow him to face the last race of the season as leader of the championship.
Joan Aranda was the only Speed Car representative in the ‘Junior’ category in Miranda de Ebro. The young Wonder driver set the seventh fastest time in the timed session, was third in the first qualifying session and fourth in the other two, results that placed him seventh on the starting grid for the final, which he completed in the same position, scoring points for the fifth time so far this season.
